Costa Rica is known as a country full of beautiful tropical forests and awe-inspiring beaches. Nowhere is this more true than for Guanacaste, which is one of the most prominent provinces in the country. Guanacaste is known for its amazing greenery, bird species and most importantly its many beaches. It should therefore come as no surprise that the Guanacaste’s coast is also known as the golden coast. There are a multitude of unique and beautiful beaches along the coast of Guanacaste where you can enjoy water sports and time with family.

Playa Conchal is one of the most unique beaches on the golden coast. Where most of the other beaches on the golden coast have shells, Playa Conchal has crushed shells. Instead of going to the park you can enjoy a picnic at Playa Conchal. One thing to keep in mind is that the access to this beach via car is difficult so you will have to park your car and walk your way to the beach.
While Playa Flamingo does not offer as many amenities as some of the other beaches on the gold coast, it does however offer amazing views of the sunset for people looking to enjoy a romantic evening. An annual sailfish tournament is also held on the beach so if you are someone who loves water sports then this is the beach to go. Playa Grande is the surfer's choice and is well known for its world class waves. People from all over the world visit Playa Grande just to enjoy a high quality surfing experience. You can get great waves from early morning till night however the beach closes down after the sunset and visitors are allowed to stay on the beach after that. It is also known as one of the most prominent turtle nesting beaches on the gold coast.
Playa Potrero is a white sand beach that is known for its amazing back drop and serene blue water. The water is clean which makes it a wonderful location to go scuba diving or sport fishing. The affiliated beach resorts and amenities make Playa Potrero a worthy destination.
Las Catalinas is a relatively new beach town in Costa Rica. While the town is still growing it already offers a number of beautiful more isolated beaches, for example Sugar Beach and Playa Prieta. As it is a growing community, there are currently less amenities compared to other places on the list but you can still enjoy a lot of worthwhile activities such as spending a romantic evening with your special someone or experiencing water sports like scuba diving, surfing and snorkeling. The beaches are beautiful and not so crowded which adds to the overall experience of the visitors.
