Playa Potrero Real Estate
Playa Potrero is a small beach town just north of Flamingo and south of Las Catalinas. It’s a small town populated by locals but swells dramatically in the high (dry) season between November and April. Potrero-proper has a small town center and central park with basic services available. In and around that are several small residential neighborhoods that are very popular with ex-pats, retirees, and short term visitors. By far, the largest and most popular of these communities is Surfside with its many modest roads winding through the foliage, lined with various types of properties. Over time Potrero gained popularity and expanded slowly with bars and restaurants starting to crop up. As of this writing, the ‘strip’ offers 6 great establishments that feature great food, nightly events and lots and lots of live music. And off the strip, there's many more, all of which is easily accessed by foot, bicycle or golf cart. Surfside / Potrero has became the less crowded, less noisy, much cleaner and much safer alternative to Tamarindo… but it's just as fun.
The Beaches
The beaches are safe and clean with calm, family-friendly waves and spectacular nightly sunsets. And there’s at least a half dozen other spectacular beaches in the area within a 5 minute drive, like Playa la Penca, Playa Prieta, Playa Flamingo, and Playa Pan de Azúcar. There's a reason they call this the "Gold Coast".
The Services
Many grocery stores, bars, and restaurants are within walking distance and there are 3 banks in Flamingo, a 5 minute drive away. Also within a 10 minute drive are the prestigious La Paz and Country Day private schools. Several clinics and pharmacies are in the area as well as emergency services. The closest hospital is in Santa Cruz, or in Liberia, each about 1 hour away. Also in Liberia is all the shopping you could hope for, and the international airport that hosts direct flights daily from North America as well as all parts of the world.
