Team OPR Takes 1st Place at The 2018 PGA LatinoAmerican Pro-Am at Conchal
For the second consecutive year, Reserve Conchal is hosting the 2018 PGA Tour LatinoAmerica Essential Costa Rica Classic from May 7th through the 13th on the famously reviered Robert Trent Jones II golf course.
Sponsored by the Costa Rica Tourism Institute, this tournament features 144 professional golfers from countries around the globe with the host country inviting up to 30 of its own golfers, as is customary for PGA LatinoAmerica events. The event kicked off with the Pro Am tournament on Wednesday which was, once again, sold out with local golfers in threesomes joined by one pro for a competitive and fun day of golf.
For the 2nd year, Jack Osborne put together his Overseas Pacific Realty team with himself and agents Chad Fisher and John LaHoud with pro Juan Marin Flores. But the story line of note here was last year’s tournament in which Jack was joined with one of his best friends Don Machum, of Playa Granda from Alberta, Canada. Sadly, Don had been diagnosed with a highly aggressive form of cancer and it was a miracle and a blessing that Don was able to play in that tournament and compete at a high level with his friends. Sadly, Don eventually succumbed to the cancer and passed away this last year. So it was with a heavy heart that this year's team took to the links and dedicated the day to Don… which they then turned around and promptly won, buoyed by a round of 80 handed in by Jack, one of his best days ever on that course. Clearly, Don’s spirit was alive and well as our boys brought home the gold in this moving and momentous occasion for all involved.
The LatinAmerica PGA had qualifying rounds on Thursday and Friday and the top pros will battle it out Saturday and Sunday!
